What does the Price Per Pound feature do?

ThePrice per Pound” feature for Butcher Store Partners allows you to set a price per pound for your products to more closely match the in-store experience on your website.

How does it work?

For new products, you’ll go through the same steps in the dashboard:  Dashboard > Products > Add a Product.

  1. At the Pricing step of product creation, select “Sold By = Weighted Unit

  1. Enter an Average Weight based on pounds.

It doesn’t need to be an exact figure; an estimated amount will work.

  1. Enter the Price per lb” – what’s the cost for a single pound of the product?
  2. Estimated Pricewill be automatically calculated based on the “Average Weight” and “Price per lb” being filled out.

How does it work for pre-existing products?

For pre-existing products, you only need to change their Sold By method and fill out the same fields as above.

How does a customer select their desired weight?

Until the Sell by Weight feature is released, a customer will have to select the quantity of a pre-determined amount as the workaround.

For example, if a steak is set at .5lb and the customer wants a full pound, they would need to select quantity=2

How does the vendor make an order adjustment?

For products that are priced per pound, you only need to update the Total Weight, but you can also adjust the quantity and Price per Pound if needed.

How does quantity affect the order adjustment?

Changing quantity multiplies the pre-determined weight of the product

Example: If a product is priced at $20/lb with a pre-determined weight of 1lb, then:

Quantity of 1: 1 pound x $20 = $20

Quantity of 2: 2 pounds x $20 = $40

What email does the customer receive after placing their order?

Prices of items sold by weight are approximate and may vary due to changes in fair market value. So when your customer orders, we place an initial charge for the Estimated Price. The Total Price of their order will be calculated using our most recent prices, and a detailed receipt will be emailed to them. This email lets them know we are processing their order, and this is an estimated price.

What email does the customer receive after placing their order?

Their credit card charge may be updated after the Total Price is calculated, and we may issue them a refund or adjustment charge based on the Total Price. So initially, their credit card will have a “hold.”

After the price is finalized, they’ll be charged on their credit card for the total amount. Once that happens, the customer will get a second email telling them their order is ready and this is the Total Price.
